It is NOT a solid piece of gold. It is hollow and lighter than plastic. If you drop it on a metal table, you can hear it is not a solid piece of gold other than the design of the ring. The fine print on the card they send with it says ALLOY! It was late for a Valentine's present but I'm glad I didn't get it in time to give it to my fiancee. It's worth maybe $10 total, not $175, there isn't even enough gold per ounce (1gram btw) to justify the cost. 3 days late and I sent it straight back! I was too disappointed to even let my fiancee know what it was so I can find something else!
